Spiced Pear and Almond Butter Super Barley Porridge

Ingredients

Poached pear:

  • 1 pear, peeled and halved
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cardamon
  • 1/4 tsp all spice

Porridge:

  • 1/2 cup Super Barley flakes
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp almond paste
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds

Method:

1) Add pear, 1 cup of water, honey and spices to a small saucepan over high heat and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium low, cook for 15 minutes or until tender. Remove from the heat and allow pear to cool.

2) Add Super Barley Flakes, milk and vanilla to a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally until thick and creamy. 

3. Top porridge with poached pear, almond butter and hemp seeds, and enjoy!
